Glossary: This is an explanation of terms used in soft LEDs.
- LED: The term LED here refers to a LED module (LED block component) that integrates a LED chip (single piece) with a substrate, resistors, mounting frame, packaging, etc., and is abbreviated as LED.
- SMD surface mount device (substrate) surface-mounted (electronic) components: SMD refers to mounted components, but here it is used to mean automatic solder-compatible caramel-shaped LED modules.
- SMD LED: For automatic soldering, referred to in millimeter dimensions. Commonly used LEDs include SMD 3528 (3.5 * 2.8 mm), SMD 5050 (5 * 5 mm), and for ultra-brightness, SMD 5630, SMD 2835, etc.
- Direct insertion LED: Refers to a shape that is hand-soldered by inserting two lead pins, typically seen in bullet-shaped LEDs, into the substrate for hand soldering.
- FPC flexible printed circuit board: Soft substrate/flexible board made of materials such as polyimide, PVC, aluminum, etc., with a soft thin film substrate + printed circuit with conductive copper foil + various SMDs (LED modules, micro-resistors, etc.) + insulating solder resist film (PSR).
